MUMBAI: Turnkey Music has signed its first popular musician couple Roop Kumar and Sunali Rathod. The music company is looking after manufacturing, distribution, marketing and promotion of artiste/es who want to retain copyright of their material.
Currently, Turnkey Music is promoting Roop Kumar and Sunali Rathod's Ghazal album ‘Zikr Tera' and is offering them all the services. The singing couple's daughter Reewa, who was launched in 2013 amidst the music fraternity, will also be launching her single along with the music video through the company.
Turnkey Music & Publishing Pvt. Ltd MD Atul Churamani said, "We will be responsible for all the activities, from marketing to promotion of Reewa's upcoming single. She had completed her single and is working on a video. But we it will take some time before being launched. We do not want the single to be lost, as there has to be one or two more tracks ready before the first one is released."
The company is also providing its services to the band Barefaced Liar, who will release its music and a video soon. Meanwhile, Turnkey is looking after the publishing of Music UnLtd., a Mumbai-based band, which launched a four-track EP. Churamani said, "The idea is to offer services to artistes who are not signed by any music label and cannot avail facilities that an artiste enjoys if signed under a label company. It includes facilities like manufacturing, distribution, marketing and promotion. Turnkey can provide them one service or multiple services depending on what the musicians want." The company is in talks with many artistes that include a mix of known and unknown artistes across all genres of music like ghazal, hip-hop, pop electronic and others.
Turnkey earns a "small per cent of the revenue" made through businesses. Churamani said, "We are trying to put the music out there for people to consume. We are not involved in concerts right now even though that is the space where profits are huge."
Although the company has started signing artistes, it has not yet started looking for investors as it is concentrating on the successful execution of its plans for artistes.
Meanwhile, Turnkey has partnered with Sony DADC for manufacturing of the physical format. Churamani said, "Sony DADC offers the best quality in physical format. For instance, for the Roop Kumar and Sunali Rathod album, along with the disc there is a 16 page booklet which makes the physical format special."
The company has partnered with Orchard via Ok Listen for digital, Techzone for mobile distribution and Culture Machine for Youtube.
