NEW DELHI: DD Bharati is to present an array of special programmes to mark the festival of colour- Holi, from 4 to 7 March.

The first will  be a Holi special programme by Malini Awasthi on 4 March at 11.00 p.m., followed by ‘Brij Holileela’ on 6 March at 8.00 p.m. and ‘Holi Ke Rang Shastria Sangeet ke sang’ on 6 March at 9.00 p.m. and ‘Baaton Baaton Mein (Kaka Haathrasi)’ on 6 March at 11.00 p.m.

Holi, also known as Vasant Mahotsava, and Kama Mahotsava, spans over two days and marks the beginning of spring. On the first day, known as day of ‘Holika Dahan’, fire is lit marking the victory of truth over evil. The second day is 'Phag', when the actual festival is celebrated with vibrant colours and water.

DD Bharati will present its special in house programme ‘Fusion- Bickram Ghosh’s Rhythmscape - A Musical Journey’ on 7 March at 10:00 p.m. Bickram Ghosh’s ‘Rhythmscape’ creates fusion between pure classical and the modern pop and rock, and create music that is a good blend of both. Ghosh is no novice when it comes to fusion, having performed with some of the biggest names in Indian classical music, such as Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ghosh’s musical journey has been enviable. ‘Rhythmscape’ has that unique quality of being at once wildly exciting and also deeply moving.

‘Women’s Day Special- A Day with Celebrities Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan and Rama Vaidyanathan’ will be telecast on 8 March at 08:30 p.m.and ‘Women Special Document- Can you hear me’ at 10:00 p.m. to mark International Women’s Day.

‘Krishnarpanam – A Margam’ performance by Bala Devi Chandrashekar will be telecast on 8 March at 11:00 p.m. Bala Devi Chandrashekar is a Professor of practice in Asian performing arts. Her approach is interdisciplinary, involving lecturing and research. Bala’s focus on Lecture and research blends seamlessly with her concert platform. Her lecturers incorporate the core architectural components of ancient temple sculptures – Karanas, governed by artistic laws of value bridging disciplines together and reducing the hazy scope.
