MUMBAI:  After serving Shazam for over 12 years, Will Mills decided to move on. He has bid goodbye to the company and joined lyric licensing company- LyricFind. He is appointed as the chief revenue officer at LyricFind, and will continue to be based in London. Andrew Stess, who was previously serving as CRO of the company, will remain on the company’s Board of Directors.

In his new role, he will be seen leading the team on all global business development and sales at LyricFind.

Through the appointment, the company will be seen expanding its businesses into London which later will be extended into Europe.

According to LyricFind, it is opening its London office to extend leadership and expansion into Europe and Asia Pacific. This is in line with the company’s rapid expansion plan worldwide. The company’s partnership with Deezer, Amazon, HTC and Microsoft, was part of its growth plan.

Commenting on his new role in the company, Mills said, “I am hugely excited to be joining LyricFind at this exciting point in its history and building on the existing great foundations. There are many welcome similarities to LyricFind as to when I joined Shazam; namely, market leadership in the B2B space, roughly the same sized team and enormous room for growth. Lyric search is also one of the leading music discovery methods. I look forward to using my experience to help grow LyricFind with our many partners and new partners worldwide.”

LyricFind CEO Darryl Ballantyne said, “Having worked with Will for years during his time at Shazam, we have always known him to be a smart and highly effective executive, and we couldn’t think of anyone better to lead our continued global expansion.”

Since 2003, Mills served Shazam at various roles starting from the role of Head of Music to Director Music and Content in 2008, to his last role as the VP Music and Content in 2014. He not only got Shazam to sign deals with majors in the global music industry, but he also led the teams that delivered content ingestion, editorial content, promotions and many other business development initiatives.
