Furtados School of Music plans to expand to Delhi

MUMBAI: Mumbai headquartered Furtados School of Music (FSM) will target Delhi to expand its training program across schools in the city. FSM recently partnered with KidZania to reach out to kids between the age group of 5-12, in a special program. The two joined hands after being in talks for the last 4 to 5 months.

Commenting on future plans, Furtados School of Music co- CEO Tanuja Gomes said, “FSM is poised to be the number one music learning schools in India. Today, we are partnering with all the top tier schools in the country and enhancing the music learning experience of every child.”

She further added, “Each child is offered a pedagogically approved instrument curriculum, and thereby offers a very motivating music learning experience. Our dream is we bring some positive musical influence to every child in the country.”

FSM, through its partnership with KidZania, hopes to reach-out to approximately 400,000 students, visiting them annually. Gomes said, “We are looking at maximum children taking up the FSM music learning experience while in KidZania.” She is hoping that the “logical” and “fruitful” association will help both of them to maximise their reach.

Gomes further added that the programme of the school is good enough, which is why they do not plan to introduce any changes in the curriculum. She said, “The programme is extremely good. In just about 10 minutes, children with no instrument learning experience are able to perform confidently on stage.” The school will continue to concentrate on its current three-year program, targeting the current age group of 5-12 year olds.

Talking about the challenges in music learning, Gomes said, “Essentially, the teacher has to give a quick flavour of the programme and the kids have to pick it up in a very short period and eventually perform. The limitation of time is the biggest challenge.”

Furtados School of Music (FSM) is currently re-launching in Bengaluru and other parts of south India. It currently operates out of 17 schools and independent centres in Mumbai and Pune.

Last year, DSG Consumer Partners (DSGCP) invested an undisclosed amount in Furtados School of Music (FSM Education Private Limited), in the Series A funding of the academy. Commenting on investment, she said, “It has helped a lot. With a strong brand, experience in execution, and their strategic inputs, we have successfully grown at a very fast pace. We are currently not looking at any more investors.”
