IRF 'Sound of India' Contest is back

MUMBAI: The fourth annual 'Sound of India' contest is slated to commence on 31March 2015.  Like in earlier years, the Zurich-based International Radio Festival (IRF), together with Indiantelevision.com group's Radioandmusic.com and Mixcloud.com has teamed up to zoom in on an Indian FM Radio Show and Radio Jockey who will represent Indian radio there. The winning RJ and the show producer will be given an opportunity to showcase their talent alongside other international RJs and DJs present at the IRF Festival in Zurich, Switzerland which will take place in August.

In 2012, Red FM's RJ Malishka dazzled in her red saree with some Bollywood thumkas. In 2013, Radio Mirchi’s RJ Jeeturaaj donned a special radio mask that garnered a lot of international media attention. In 2014, MY FM’s RJ Meenakshi presented her international counterparts and other IRF attendees with special gifts that represented India.

The contest is slated to commence on 31 March 2015 to find that lucky Indian RJ who will win an all expenses paid trip (flight and accommodation) to Zurich and rock the audiences at the IRF, broadcasting their show live back to their listeners in India.

Says Indiantelevision.com group founder, CEO Anil Wanvari, "Indiantelevision.com's radioandmusic.com is delighted to continue its association with the IRF. The festival has been evolving and Indian RJs who have made it there have all come back with nothing but praise for it. They have been standouts and we are confident that this year's lucky winners will also leave a similar - if not greater impact. We invite all the radio stations to send in entries for their RJs and shows. With Phase III allocations becoming clearer in the next couple of months, we expect the number of entries to skyrocket in the next couple of years."

Adds IRF Festival Director Darryl von Daniken, "Our association with Indiantelevision.com group's Radioandmusic.com is getting stronger as years pass by. We are delighted to partner with industry giants such as Mixcloud and Radioandmusic.com in India, who deliver us the best talents active in Indian radio today. The Sound of India contest represents one of the highlights of the festival programme and we look forward to welcoming the winner to this year’s festival to Zurich to showcase the best of Indian radio programming today.”

As part of the ‘Sound of India’ contest, Indian FM radio stations have to upload or submit samples of their shows aired live in 2015 on Mixcloud, through a website URL which will be announced soon. The jury will then go through the submissions as a preliminary filtration process, followed by a final selection internationally.

The entry fee for the contest is Rs 500 and the last day for submission is 29 May.
