MUMBAI: 94.3 Radio one recently concluded their hunt for the 5 best Junior Music Jockeys (MJs) in town to host this years Children's Day special on air.

The hunt was judged by 94.3 Radio One's very own MJ Prince and was held at the Crossword bookstore. The kids were judged on the basis of their confidence, speech clarity and their ability to communicate to the audiences.

Children aged 6 -14 from various parts of the city turned up in huge numbers along with their parents just to win a chance to be on air.

Come 14th November and the selected 5 Junior MJs will hijack the station from 7 in the morning to 9 in the evening replacing MJ Prince, MJ Prachi, MJ GYA, and MJ Mailini.

The shows would have kids talking on various city-centric issues like why election campaigning never addresses issues pertaining to children and national issues with some fun on - air music contests. The kids would also be asking listeners to share their funny slice of life situations while sticking to the stations promise of playing 13 songs per hour.

Says Vehrnon Ibrahim, VP Programming, Radio One Just like every year on Children's Day, Radio One as a station is run by children for an entire day. They become the Music Jockeys and are given a free hand in raising their issues. It's a unique way of programming as they say things that are the funny yet educational at times. It's wonderful to know how a radio station would run, had it been run by children for an entire year. They seem to teach us more than we teach them....
