MUMBAI: Universal Music Group will release over 60 exclusive vinyl titles from a wide array of artists in celebration of Record Store Day. The annual event, which takes place this year on Saturday, April 18th, celebrates the importance and vitality of the independent music store. UMG will be offering releases from dozens of top artists, including Avicii, BANKS, Florence + the Machine, Kid Cudi, Rick Ross, Tove Lo, as well as exclusive titles from such legendary artists as Brian Wilson, Frank Sinatra, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis and U2.
Moreover, a number of artists will be participating directly in Record Store Day with in-store appearances, including All Time Low at Schoolkids Records in Raleigh, Chris Stapleton at Good Records in Dallas, Eric Burton at Neptoon in Vancouver, Robert DeLong at Waterloo in Austin, and TV on the Radio at Amoeba in Los Angeles, along with many more throughout the country.
Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1000 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. On this day, independently-owned records stores come together with artists and labels to celebrate music with special releases and promotional products and events.
