Archana Trust to host a musical extravaganza 'Ras Barse' in collaboration with the NCPA

MUMBAI: Archana Trust, a charitable organization with a focus to serve the underprivileged with amenities like water, housing and employment opportunities, will host an evening of semi-classical music â€?Ras Barse' with musical maestros in collaboration with NCPA on 20th November, 2009. This concert is to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the trust and will feature one of the most versatile Hindustani musician Shubha Mudgal  & the internationally acclaimed musical genius, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.

The proceeds from the musical extravaganza will help raise money for Archana Trust's charitable and social activities. Founded in 1981, the Trust is managed by like- minded philanthropic women and advocates the philosophy of empowerment through education and by creating job opportunities that supports economic independence 

Speaking about the fundraiser concert, Mrs. Asha Singhania, the founder- trustee of Archana Trust said, Archana Trust works earnestly towards empowering and embodying people to attain a higher standard of living. Shubha Mudgal's first guru was Pandit Ramashreya Jha. At his urging, she continued her training under Pandit Vinaya Chandra Mudgalya. She represents the Poorab tradition of blending melody and emotion.

Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, is a disciple of Ustad Munawar Ali Khan, son of the legendary maestro of the Patiala-Kasur gharana, Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. He represents the enchanting Patiala style.
