Gaana hacker offered a job by CEO of Times Internet

MUMBAI: Music streaming website Gaana.com, earlier today, was hacked by a Pakistani user by the name of Mak Man. The hacker revealed the reason for the act and Times Internet CEO, Satyan Gajwani communicated with him via Facebook, even offering Mak Man a job to prevent the music website from further vulnerabilities.

Speaking to Radioandmusic.com about the situation Gaana, business head Pawan Agarwal said, "It was an 'ethical hacker' who did this, who wanted to show us a glitch. No financial or personal data was compromised. The website will start functioning in another few hours. We are currently working on the diagnostics to prevent any in hacks in the future."

Gajwani addressed the issue, tweeting, "A couple of hours ago, a hacker name MakMan exposed a vulnerability in one of our Gaana user databases. Here's where things stand. First of all, we have patched the vulnerability within an hour of its discovery, as MakMan has also acknowledged. No financial or sensitive personal data beyond Gaana login credentials were accessed. No third party credentials were accessed either. As we understand, the data has not been accessed or shared with anyone; MakMan was highlighting the issue, which we've recognized. Most of our users' data has not been compromised, but we've reset all Gaana user passwords, so all users have to make new ones." (sic)

Gaana also tweeted that the site and the app are not running currently, and has requested users to create new passwords. The company is also looking forward to strengthening its security team and the issue is being treated with utmost urgency.
