MUMBAI: BBC Radio 5 live today announces plans for live coverage of all England’s matches at the 2015 UEFA Under-21 Championship from the Czech Republic in June.

With the tournament getting under way from Wednesday 17 June as host nation the Czech Republic take on Denmark, England’s first match will see Gareth Southgate’s men go up against Portugal at 7.45pm on Wednesday 18 June.

England’s next two group games see them take on Sweden on Sunday June 21 June at 5pm, followed by Italy at 7.45pm on Wednesday June 24 June. Some of the 2014/15 Premier League campaign’s most entertaining young players - including Everton’s John Stones, Burnley’s Danny Ings and Tottenham’s Harry Kane - have been named as part of Gareth Southgate’s final 23-man squad, along with a host of other potential stars of England’s footballing future.

With current holders and four-time champions Spain to play no part in the 2015 finals following their elimination by Serbia, the tournament is wide open for any of the remaining eight teams to carve their name in history, with England looking to lift the trophy for the first time since 1984.

Richard Burgess, Head of Sports News and Radio Sport at the BBC, said, “We are delighted to be in a position to bring Radio 5 live listeners commentary of all England’s Under-21 games, building on our commitment to covering all levels of football at a tournament that will undoubtedly serve as a launch-pad for many of the stars of tomorrow.”
