MUMBAI: Music company, Zee Music has acquired the music rights of two films from Balaji Motion Pictures- 'Udta Punjab' and 'Great Grand Masti'. Additionally, the company also acquired the music of other Balaji Motion Pictures films like 'Flying Jatt', 'Kya Super kool Hai Hum 3' and 'XXX'.
Other than Balaji Motion Pictures, Zee Music has also collaborated with UTV-Disney for releases in 2015-16.
The music of 'Udta Punjab' is given by composer Amit Trivedi, who bagged several awards at this year's GiMA for his music in the film 'Queen'. It is reported that Trivedi described the tracks as trippy, junky and being in a trance kind of space. The film features singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh along with stars like Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt.
'Great Grand Masti' which is the third installation in the 'Masti' franchise, will feature Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasini. The film is produced by Balaji and Ashoke Thakaria and will have Indra Kumar directing the film. The shoot will start from mid-May this year.
Previously, Zee Music had revealed that it acquired 40 Hindi and 15 Marathi movies on the whole for the films released in 2014-15.
