DD Kisan to launch music reality show æFolkstars: Maati Ke LaalÆ

MUMBAI: DD Kisan, a channel that aims at educating the farmers on issues, is now entering into the realm of reality television with its new musical offering ‘FolkStars: Maati Ke Laal’

The show that is set to air by August end is being produced by Saaibaba Telefilms. The property is a folk based musical reality show, which intends to give a platform to the rural masses and promoting folk music. The contestants on the show will be farmers’ children who have an expertise in folk singing.

Talking about their latest offering, Saaibaba Telefilms MD Shweta Singh said, “Saaibaba Telefilms has always been a pioneer in creating concepts that have been one of a kind. This time our aim was to highlight a different genre of music - folk. This form of music has been prevalent for generations and it is different in every region of India. But, it also comes with its own unique flavour. Unfortunately it has not been given a platform to showcase itself in mainstream commercial music. Therefore when DD Kisan was approached with 'FolksStars: Maati Ke Laal', a unique concept to make it their first property; we received a very positive response. With DD Kisan's support, the process, thereon has been smooth and quick.”

Singh further added, “All other musical reality shows have been a hunt for the next voice of Bollywood. With 'FolkStars: Maati Ke Laal', Saaibaba Telefilms is planning to preserve and highlight a lost genre while, establishing musical artists, not just from different genres of music but also from all walks of life. In fact, the music you will experience on this show are original creations of the artists themselves.”

The reality show will be judged by Annu Kapoor and Ila Arun. According to information available, the duo has handpicked each talent on the show by travelling to the interior most parts of India to cities like Jaisalmer, Barmer, Rohtak, Shimla, Jhansi, Buxar, Raipur, Assam, Pune and Jalandhar amongst others.
