MUMBAI: ole, the world’s fastest growing independent rights management company, is expanding its relationship with country singer/songwriter George Canyon, inking a worldwide co-publishing agreement that includes Canyon’s back catalogue and future copyrights. Over the course of his nearly two-decade career, Canyon has won two Juno Awards and seven CCMA Awards. This year, he is nominated at the CCMAs in the Country Music Program or Special of the Year category for his radio show ‘Down East Country with George Canyon’.

Canyon has released ten albums since kicking off his career in 1996, including the Gold-certified ‘One Good Friend’, ‘Somebody Wrote Love’, and ‘Better Be Home Soon’. In 2004, he was named the runner-up on reality competition TV show ‘Nashville Star 2’, on which he was the only Canadian to make the final cut. His accolades include Juno Awards for Country Recording of the Year for ‘One Good Friend’ in 2005 and ‘Somebody Wrote Love’ in 2007 as well as CCMA Awards for ‘Rising Star’ in 2004, Fans’ Choice in 2004, SOCAN Song of the Year for ‘My Name’ in 2005, Single of the Year for ‘My Name’ in 2005 and ‘Somebody Wrote Love’ in 2006, and Male Artist of the Year in 2005 and 2006. Canyon is also an established actor who has appeared in the popular Canadian TV series ‘Heartland and Trailer Park Boys’. He was also featured in the film ‘Dawn Rider’, a 2012 remake of the classic 1935 John Wayne movie of the same name. He launched the radio show ‘Down East Country with George Canyon’ in February 2015, on which he runs down anything and everything happening in the country music scene in Atlantic Canada.
