MUMBAI: The recent partnership between Twisted Entertainment and Universal Music India for the upcoming Enchanted Valley Carnival (EVC), to be held at Aamby Valley from 18 to 20th December, 2015, will bring benefits for both companies. This joint venture will allow Universal Music to bring both, their International and local artists to play at the EVC.
“We could bring 50-60 artists for the festival, and will announce the names one by one. But I can assure you that the lineup is going to be massive, and people are going to enjoy this festival,” said Universal Music Group and EMI Music, South Asia, MD and CEO, Devraj Sanyal.
Sanyal, who is a co-founder of Sunburn, feels that his previous experience of launching the popular dance music festival will help EVC. When asked about the competition in the live space he said that each space has its audience. “I love Sunburn, I love Supersonic, I love Magnetic Fields, and I love all the festivals present in the market. For me every player in the market is very important, and I hope we can all collaborate and help the live space grow. If you look at it, there is no competition for us, we are in Aamby Valley, and we are a different product,” added Sanyal.
With experience of curating smaller festivals, Sanyal claims he does not intend to start a new live event right from scratch and wait for it to grow. “Acquisition of this festival was the smartest thing to do. We have a strategy call ‘OLA’, Own, License and Acquire.” Universal Music India also owns another IP called ‘TROT’.
Among those acts confirmed as headliners for the upcoming edition of EVC are dance music heavyweights- Tiësto, Ferry Corsten and Fatboy Slim have been confirmed as the headliners for the festival. Early bird tickets are already available for purchase at Justdial Entertainment.
Launched in 2013, the multi genre music festival has inked a long-term sponsorship with alcohol brand-Bacardi, and music service-Saavn.
