MUMBAI: One of the biggest and the most exciting talent hunt on Radio, the ‘Radio City Super Singer’ drew to a grand conclusion across multiple cities on 13 September, 2015. The seventh season of Radio City’s marquee property presented by TVS Scooty Zest in association with Olx, saw more than two lakh participants lining up across 15 cities in a bid to be the best. 15 winners across 15 cities were crowned as the ‘Radio City Super Singer’ in grand finales held in their respective cities. The winners walked home with prize money of up to 1 lakh rupees in addition to the chance of letting their talent do the talking with stalwarts from the music industry.
The seventh season of ‘Radio City Super Singer’ kick started on 18 August, 2015. The tremendous level of enthusiasm was not just visible on-ground but it totally reflected in the numbers game as well. With 2.10 lakh participants registering to become the ‘Radio City Super Singer’, the figure smashed last year’s number which stood at 1.25 lakh registrations. The capital city, led from the front as it saw more than 22,000 singers battling it out for the title. Mumbai, Pune, Vadodara and Lucknow were the other cities which saw a high number of auditions.
The numerous modes of auditions played a key role in the rise of registration numbers. The full-blown on-ground activations in colleges and malls, the canters moving in and around the cities drew a large number of participants. Not limiting itself to the traditional route of auditioning, Radio City went digital in order to call a much larger spectrum of interested singers. IVRS numbers, WhatsApp auditions and the exclusive micro site made for convenience mode of auditions to listeners across the country.
The Top 5 best voices from each city competed against one another in a grand finale for the crown of ‘Radio City Super Singer’. Industry experts and prominent musicians such as Aditi Singh Sharma, Palak Muchhal, Armaan Malik Shibani Kashyap, Anoop Seelin, Abhijeet Sawant, G V Prakash and Richa Sharma to name a few were handed the responsibility to find the next bunch of singing sensations in India.
The finales of ‘Radio City Super Singer’ presented to you by TVS Scooty Zest in association with Olx were held on 12 and 13 September, 2015 in premier malls across cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Jaipur amongst others.
‘Radio City Super Singer’ has raised the bar of competition as always, and this time the enthusiasm, excitement across all age groups and the numbers bear testimony to it. The tagline, ‘Gaane aaoge toh Jaane jaoge’, was set with an idea to let talent be at the helm of singing and the fame that comes along with it. ‘Radio City Super Singer’ is definitely a great initiative that proves that Radio City looks to engage and forge a never ending connect with its listeners.
