`Sa Re... Li`l Champs` to also feature singers from overseas

NEW DELHI: If Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 is `sangeet ka pratham vishwa yudh` (the first worldwide music contest), the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li`l Champs, which will commence telecast after the finale on 13 October, will also feature talent from overseas.

Zee TV marketing head Tarun Mehra told indiantelevision.com that the auditions for the second edition of Li`l Champs had covered some foreign countries, though he could not say whether any of the aspirants would get an opportunity to take part in the preliminary rounds.

As in the case of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa..., the Li`l Champs will also have 44 episodes, and Mehra expressed the hope that the standard of the singers would be as high as in the first edition.

Answering a question, Mehra said that Aditya Narayan will replace Shaan who had presented the first edition of Li`l Champs, which is now having a repeat run on Zee Smile.

Li`l Champs will feature children up to the age of 14, and this meant that each child from outside Mumbai will be accompanied by a parent or an escort.

Mehra, who was in the capital in connection with a press meet to announce producer-actor Aroona Iranis new weekend series Naaginn¦waadon ki agniparikshaa (launching Friday, 5 October in the 8:30 pm slot) said Zee TV at present enjoyed a 29 per cent market share at prime time.
