BBC will let kids 'takeover' for Commissioner Takeover Challenge

MUMBAI: In an effort to educate kids about nature and the operation inside its organisation, British Broadcast Corporation (BBC) has joined the national Children's Commissioner Take Over Challenge initiative. Kids from across the country will be able to participate in the challenge, giving them a closer look into the adult professional life.

The challenge, like never before, will give children a chance to broadcast on BBC radio through outputs like BBC Breakfast, Radio 1, Radio 5 Live and the Asian Network. The involvement goes beyond presentation roles, and will provide kids with a hands-on experience of being Director-General, running kids TV, as well as controlling the radio station.

Anne Longfield, Children’s Commissioner for England, said, “I am delighted that BBC is participating in this year's Takeover Challenge and that children will take on some of the most senior roles." The programme will go live on 20 November, and could serve useful to the organisation in gaining a fresh perspective about its work. The commissioner believes children who spend time at the BBC will have an inspiring time and the staff will learn from the kids as well.

Tony Hall, Director-General of the BBC, said, “On Takeover Day we’ll be throwing open the doors to the BBC so some of the youngest members of our audience can come and see what we do. It’s a great chance for children from across the UK to experience lots of areas from Children's to Radio 1 - and even what it's like to be Director-General. Hopefully, we can even inspire them to do it for real one day.”
