Big Music takes up Farhan's next 'Luck By Chance'

MUMBAI: The success of Rock On seems to have cemented the relationship between Big Music and Excel Entertainment, which now plans to release the music of Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani's next film Luck By Chance. Farhan will star again in the film, music for which has been scored by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics written by Javed Akhtar. He stars along with Konkona SenSharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Isha Sharwani, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Kapoor and Aly Khan. Hrithik Roshan has a special appearance in the film. The movie also marks the debut of director Zoya Akhtar.

Sanyo launches internet radio set in Canada

Electronics major Sanyo has combined the concept with the old fashioned radio chassis with features of the Internet with the Sanyo R227 that has been launched in Canada. The R227 connects to a wireless network and plays stations/podcasts from anywhere on the web. It has a huge database of channels, programs etc, and it can also be programmed manually. Besides it also has regular digitial FM, and can also act as a speaker for your MP3 player. It supports AC, AIFF, MP3, RM, WAV, WMA and playlists (M3V) stored on a networked computer.

B4U Music gets encrypted; shifts to AsiaSat 3S

MUMBAI: B4U Music is getting encrypted but will stay as a free-to-air (FTA) channel. B4U Network is also upgrading its two channels B4U Movies and B4U Music to MPEG-4. Both the channels will use Irdeto's encryption system. B4U is also shifting to AsiaSat 3S satellite from 7 December. The transmission from PAS-10 will be stopped from 31 December.

Indian titles make it to Grammy nominations

MUMBAI: With the 51st Grammy awards 2009 coming close, Indians may have a reason to smile. According to Grammy's official website, Indian musician Debashish Bhattacharya's Calcutta Chronicles: Indian Slide Guitar Odyssey and Lakshmi Shankar's Dancing In The Light have been nominated in the Best Traditional World Music Album category. Besides this, 'Floating Point' which was released under Blue Frog Records in June 2008 (India) has also been nominated for a Grammy in the 'Best Contemporary Jazz Album' Category.

I am playing myself in the movie Dil Kabbadi where the four main characters confide in Love Guru on radio. I am playing the role of an agony uncle, who is very chilled out and humorous, in the film. It was more or less the same experience for me as I am doing what I do every day in the radio studio.

Columbia Records Artists & Recordings Garner 29 Grammy Nominations in 25 Categories

MUMBAI: Artists and recordings from the Columbia Records Group garnered 29 nominations in some 25 Grammy categories for recordings released during the Grammy Eligibility Year October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008. Nominations for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards were announced in Los Angeles on Tuesday, December 3 by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. The 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 8, 2009, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8-11:30 p.m.
