RAM Wk 7: Mirchi is Number 1 in all 4 metros; slipping in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi is the Number One FM station across all the RAM-monitored metros including Bangalore where it is joint leader with BIG FM. However, Mirchi's share in Mumbai has now dropped to 14.8%, a loss of 1.7% market share over Week 6 / 2011, and the its lowest market share in the seven RAM-monitored weeks of 2011 so far, and ahead of the second-ranked Radio City by only 1.5% market share, a figure that could have shrunk further had City registered any gains in Mumbai in Week 7.

However, Mirchi gained 1.1% in Bangalore to become joint market leader at 18.6% with BIG FM, which too gained 1%, with Fever FM, which gained 0.5% at Number 3 with a  market share of 15.6%, while Radio City, which gained 0.9%, closed the week in Bangalore at Number 4 with a market share of 14.1%.

In Delhi, Radio Mirchi is Number One with 23.6% (+0.7% over Week 6), ahead of Fever FM, which gained slightly more than Mirchi (0.9%) to close at 20.7% as a strong Number 2, with biggest gainer of the week,  AIR FM 2 Gold, which added 1.2% market share to close the week at 15.4%, and a clear Number 3  ahead of Red FM at 9.8%, and Radio City a whisker behind at 9.4% market share.

In Kolkata, Radio Mirchi, despite a small drop of 0.4%,  was Number 1 with 21% market share, ahead of BIG FM (17.6%) and Aamar FM (12.90), which was slightly ahead of the Number 4-placed Friends FM at 12.2%. The maximum gains in Kolkata were made by Aamar FM (1.4%), followed by Oye! with 0.6%).

Notably, Oye!, which added 1.1% to its market share, led the gainers in Mumbai, with Red FM (0.7%), and AIR FM2 Gold (0.6%).
