Cabinet nod for FM Phase III auctions

MUMBAI: The roll out of highly awaited FM Phase III auctions is slowly and gradually reaching its destination. The infant radio industry has overcome major challenges and is on its way of expansion. After witnessing months of speculation over different issues, the Union Cabinet approved the decisions of the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) regarding amendments in the policy guidelines for expansion of FM radio broadcasting services through private agencies.

Bombay Talkies was the biggest challenge: Amit Trivedi

MUMBAI: Making music for ‘Apna Bombay Talkies’ has been the toughest challenge for me so far, said composer Amit Trivedi. The song that is a tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema has unfortunately not been applauded by the audience, in spite of being rendered by acclaimed singers. The sole inspiration was to try and fit the different eras of Hindi cinema from the 1930s till date in one song. We had to include the style of KL Saigal to Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangheskar to Bappi Lahiri and from Shaan to Sonu Nigam,” Trivedi told Radioandmusic.com.

Compilation CDs hit high watermark in UK

MUMBAI: Sales of compilation music in the UK market have increased significantly. New sales data from the Official Charts Company has revealed there was a 7.2 percent rise in 2012. During 2012, ?20.6m of compilation albums were sold. Compilation albums make up a fifth of all UK albums sold. Growth has also continued into 2013 with sales increasing by 11.8 per cent in the first three months of this year. The most popular compilations include the ubiquitous  ‘Now That's What I Call Music’ series as well as specialist volumes.
