Scottish singer Emeli Sande breaks Beatles' 50-year-old record

MUMBAI: Another long standing record of the Beatles has been broken as 26-year-old Scottish singer Emeli Sande’s debut album entered its 63rd week at the UK charts. Sande’s ‘Our Version of Events’ broke the 50-year-old record previously held by the Fab Four’s debut ‘Please Please Me’. Their debut album spent 62 weeks inside the top 10 between its release in 1963 and 1964.

Over 225 applications for community radio stations pending with govt: Tewari

NEW DELHI: A total of 227 applications for community radio stations are at various stages of inter-ministerial clearances. According to Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry Manish Tewari, 148 Community Radio Stations (CRS) are operational in the country. He said a review of the functioning of Community Radio Stations (CRS) is a continuous exercise in the Ministry which has examined issues concerning the growth and functioning of community radio stations in India.

Fans can expect new One Direction album by Christmas

MUMBAI: British boy band One Direction is in the studio working on their third album, a follow-up to their smash ‘Take Me Home’ (2012). Their first album was ‘Up All Night’ (2011). The in-the-works album is scheduled to be released by Christmas. "We've already started recording the new album, we started about a month ago. We've been writing and recording it while on tour. We are really happy with it. We don't want to rush it, but it will be out for Christmas," said member Louis Tomlinson.

Celine Dion releases clip of material for new album

MUMBAI: Canadian pop diva Celine Dion gave a sneak peek of her new material for her new album. The released minute-long video clip shows Dion laying down the vocal tracks at Florida’s Echo Beach Studios with famed producer Eg White (Florence + the Machine's ‘Ceremonials’, Adele's ‘19’). Tentatively titled ‘Water and a Flame’ is expected to be released in October. The album will be Dion’s first after 2007’s ‘Taking Chances’ and 25 album overall.
