'Perfect' record as One Direction beats Beatles in the Top 10 debut chart

MUMBAI: One Direction's latest single titled 'Perfect' becomes the British boyband's fifth single to feature in Top 10 Debut on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, putting them ahead of previous leaders, the Beatles. The band previously shared the record with their fellow countrymen legends, after the release of their first single ‘Drag Me Down’ from the same album 'Made in the A.M.'.

Entering at number 10, the single sold 136,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen Music. The song has placed at number two on the Digital Songs chart, and following the release of the video four days after the single, the music video was viewed 6.9 million times in the US alone.

Prior to the band's latest feat, One Direction debuted at number three on the Hot 100 with ‘Live While We Are Young’ on 20 October 2012. The boys returned to the Top 10 of the chart on 10 August 2013, finishing at number two, and 16 November of the same year at number nine, with their singles from the third studio album 'Midnight Memories'.

Simon Cowell accepted the speculations that One Direction’s latest track (Perfect) revolved around Harry Styles' relationship with Taylor Swift- who holds the record for most top 10 debuts ever, with 12 singles making to the chart since the Hot 100's inception in 1958.
