MUMBAI: Singer Taylor Swift will open the upcoming 58th Annual Grammy Awards on 15 February in Los Angeles with a song from her Grammy-nominated album ‘1989’.
Four-time nominee Alabama Shakes, two-time nominee Joey Alexander and two-time nominee Miguel are also set to take the stage on the annual music night.
The Recording Academy announced its final round of performers to the stellar lineup of more than 30 artistes, read a statement.
Previously announced performers include Adele, Justin Bieber, Diplo, Don Henley, Ellie Goulding, Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Rihanna and Skrillex among others.
Hosted by LL Cool J, the annual musical gala will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live in India on Vh1 channel on 16 February.
Current four-time nominees rock band Alabama Shakes are up for Album Of The Year and Best Alternative Music Album (‘Sound & Color’); and Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song (‘Don’t Wanna Fight’).
Making his Grammy stage debut, Alexander is nominated for two Grammys - Best Improvised Jazz Solo (‘Giant Steps’) and Best Jazz Instrumental Album (‘My Favorite Things’).
Miguel has two nominations this year: Best Urban Contemporary Album (‘Wildheart’) and Best R&B Song (‘Coffee’) with Brook Davis.
Up for seven awards, including three in the General Field categories, Swift is one of this year’s top nominees.
She is currently nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album (‘1989’); Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance (‘Blank Space’); and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video (‘Bad Blood’ featuring Kendrick Lamar).
And this will be Swift’s second time opening the prestigious awards ceremony. Previously, she opened the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in 2013 performing “We are never ever getting back together.”
