XM to bring Jackson's Thriller to life again

MUMBAI: 25 years after the launch of Thriller, satellite radio XM pays tribute to pop singer Michael Jackson, with the release of the XM Thriller on 1 March. The new channel will feature Jackson's solo works as well as recordings from the Jackson 5. It would also contain his interviews and stories from other artists, packed with unique content that celebrates Jackson's musical contribution.

Radio Dhamaal renamed Dhamaal 24

MUMBAI: The BAG Films promoted Radio Dhamaal has been integrated into the all encompassing 'Broadcast 24' initiative by being re-christened Dhamaal 24. The venture, which started life as Radio Dhamaal when it launched first in Hissar and Karnal, is now marketing its Valentine Day programmes under the new monicker. The idea, says managing director Anurradha Prasad, is to have Dhamaal incorporated into the network that will sell across BAG's TV channels as well as radio.

Radio City launches in Ahmednagar

MUMBAI: Radio City has launched in Ahmednagar, marking its fifth station in Maharashtra and 16th in the country. Radio City 91.1 FM will present a host of programmes along with Hindi music mixed with Marathi tracks. Radio City 91.1 FM CEO Apurva Purohit said, "We are thrilled to be a part of the lives of the people of Ahmednagar. MUMBAI: Sahara has launched Nysa, a state-of- the- art music studio for recording, editing, mixing, and mastering. Music director Ravi feted

MUMBAI: Noted music director Ravi has been chosen for the Devarajan Memorial Music award, in recognition of his contribution to Indian film music, says a PTI report. Instituted in the memory of veteran Malayalam music director G Devarajan, the award carries a cash prize of Rs 80,000, a citation and a memento from the Kerala-based cultural forum Swaralaya. Ravi was selected for the honour by a seven-member jury headed by state Culture Minister M A Baby.

MTV president Christina Norman quits

MUMBAI: Christina Norman, president of MTV since 2005, has put in her papers to end her 17-year relationship with MTV Networks. Norman will leave the company at the end of the month. MTV Networks music and logo group president Van Toffler will take on the day-to-day operations indefinitely while maintaining his group role. In an internal memo, Toffler announces Norman's decision "to take the time to explore something new." Norman was elevated to the post of president in 2005 after serving in the same role at VH1. She joined the company in 1991 as a production manager at MTV.
