MUMBAI: NDTV's Indian of the Year for music honour has been bestowed on A R Rahman, at a function held on Thursday. Rahman, who was unable to attend the ceremony, sent a pre-recorded acceptance speech. The composer scored the music for Shekhar Kapoor's Elizabeth: The Golden Age in 2007, as well as composed the music for films including Mani Ratnam's Guru, Provoked and Sivaji-The Boss. He was also felicitated by the Limca Book of Records in 2007, as one of its eminent 'People of the Year'.

Sony, which brought in the hugely popular Singstar game to India has tied up with Sony BMG for content. The playlist currently comprises 30 popular songs. The Bollywood Singstar unit, priced at Rs 1500, also allows buyers to go in for additional bouquet of songs for Rs 500. Sony states that the game was created preempting the immense potential of the Bollywood franchise, not just in India but across the world.

MUMBAI: In an attempt to spread awareness about basic education among children aged 6-14 years, Red FM, in association with Cry, has initiated a "Sabko Shiksha Saman Shiksha" campaign. Till 21 January, Red FM's tool of free expression, Red Mike will support Cry's objective by asking people in Mumbai to start paying close attention to what is going on in schools and to demand action to make government schools deliver quality education to all children irrespective of their caste, creed, race and gender.
