85 pc of Indian music sales mobile driven by 2010 - Soundbuzz

MUMBAI: The music retail business in India will touch a figure of Rs 49.54 billion by 2010, according to Online and mobile music company Soundbuzz . A sizeable chunk of this revenue, Rs 45.04 billion, not surprisingly, will come from the  mobile music business.

SC's no to Rabbi Shergill in 'Sorry Bhai!' row

MUMBAI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to pass any interim direction on a plea of noted singer Rabbi Shergill for the deletion of a certain song in the recently released Hindi film 'Sorry Bhai!', which he claimed was his copyright, says a PTI report. A bench of Justices Arijit Pasayat and S H Kapadia turned down the plea of senior counsel K T S Tulsi who made the plea during the "mentioning time". The bench said it would hear the matter after it is listed for hearing.

Stage set for India's annual 'Rock' awards

MUMBAI: The build-up to the fourth Jack Daniel's Annual Rock Awards for 2008 continues with the second Jack Daniel's - Rolling Stone TRIBUTE with VH1 concert, to be held on 5 December, 2008 at Elevate in New Delhi, to honour the legendary Jim Morrison. Avial competes with global bands for honours

MUMBAI: Kerala based Malayali rock band Avial is positioned at number 13 on US based website WorldSings.com, a music and social networking community which is organising a music competition for solo singers or bands across the globe. The bands are being shortlisted on the basis of voting by registered members for their favourite songs. The top 20 bands will compete in the Worldsings Concert to be held in Las Vegas and the winner stands a chance to grab $1,000,000 as prize money.

Mumbai airwaves change tenor, combat attack

MUMBAI: Different music, tweaked programming and sobered down RJ talk marked Mumbai's FM airwaves for three days after the first terror attacks hit Mumbai. Stranded staff, affected families and other problems were swept aside as stations rallied to offer a voice of reason to a disturbed city. While some like Radio One's programming head Malini were at the Trident in Mumbai when the attack happened, other RJs, like Mirchi's Jeeturaaj stayed put on air for a marathon session, updating listeners.

Vishal Dadlani plans PIL against TV channels

MUMBAI: Music composer Vishal Dadlani will soon file a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) against television news channels that showed the movements of the armed forces live to the terrorists on national television for three days during the attacks. "It is undoubtedly known that channels did a good job of keeping the viewers clued in with the latest happenings but there has to be some code of conduct when it comes to military or anti-terrorist operations," believes Dadlani.
