Trai extends date for views on minimum channel spacing for FM Radio

NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has extended till 6 January the written comments on its Consultation Paper on Issues related to prescribing minimum Channel spacing, within a license service area, in FM Radio sector in India.... Stakeholders can also send counter comments by 13 January, a Trai press note said, adding that this had been done on the request of stakeholders. Earlier, the last dates for comments and counter comments were 26 December and 2 January respectively.

Kolaveri sung by Sonu Nigam's son beats the original in mobile video views

EarthSync releases Shubha Mudgal's collaborative album

MUMBAI: World music label EarthSync has released Shubha Mudgal's album â€?No Stranger Here' in collaboration with Ursula Rucker and Business Class Refugees  - Patrick Sebag and Yotam Agam. The album is inspired by the Kabir's poetry - a poet of the Bhakti Movement (500 AD – 1700 AD) that swept across India. The album also includes poetries written by Rucker and Business Class Refugees. The songs rendered by Mudgal and Rucker intermixes diverse genres and music perspectives from three different countries and cultures.

Avant-garde Jazz icon Sam Rivers dies at 88

MUMBAI: Jazz saxophonist Sam Rivers who defined avant-garde jazz scene passed away due to pneumonia in Florida. Rivers made several numbers of groundbreaking albums for Blue Note records including �Fuchsia Swing Song,' and also performed with the likes of bassist Dave Holland and drummer Tony Williams. He embraced bebop in the 1950s and toured with singer Billie Holiday before joining the Miles Davis group in 1964 and appeared on the "Miles in Tokyo" live album.

Lady Gaga to rock Japan on New Year's eve

German orchestra Babelsberg to pay tribute to Rahman

MUMBAI: German film orchestra Babelsberg will pay tribute to the Indian music maestro AR Rahman in a multi-city tour commencing from 20 January in Mumbai followed by Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore. 'Germany and India: 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities' concert will feature over hundred musicians performing a orchestral interpretations of symphonic highlights from Rahman's film compositions. Artistes and choir members from Rahman's KM Conservatory will also join the orchestra.

Michael Jackson's Thriller named greatest video

MUMBAI: Even after three decades, Michael Jackson's groundbreaking Thriller is still named as the greatest video of all time. The creepy video depicting late singer transforming into a supernatural character has surpassed Lady Gaga's �Telephone' and 1975's vintage promo – �Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody' in the list.
