MUMBAI: A special concert has been organized to remember the late ghazal king Mehdi Hassan on 28 September at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. The concert will feature some of Hassan’s classic ghazals, a music genre based on poetry dedicated to the themes of love and separation and a guest performance by singer Sajjad Ali. Pakistani compere Anwar Maqsood will relate some experiences he shared with Hassan, while singer Ali Abbas will perform on some of the late artist’s ghazals.

MUMBAI: MTV plans exponentially to expand its audience base with Unplugged Season 2 . "Our core audience is urban- living in the one million plus cities and towns. But with the internet, it has expanded to smaller centres through trickle-down effect. Our viewership level is between 35-45 million, we want it to touch 50 million with Unplugged Season 2,” MTV India EVP and business head Aditya Swamy said.

MUMBAI: Promoting Indian rock bands in the country, the third season of 'The Harley Rock Riders' will head to the interiors of the country for the first time. The event will be held this season in Guwahati and Shillong on 27 September and 6 October respectively. The event will feature four popular Indian rock bands including 'Pentagram', 'Digital Suicide', 'Bhayanak Maut' and 'Street Stories'. While 'Pentagram' and 'Digital Suicide' will perform in the Guwahati concert, 'Bhayanak Maut' and 'Street Stories' will stage a concert in Shillong.

MUMBAI: Grammy Award winning country singer Taylor Swift has been roped in to play Canadian singer Joni Mitchell in the much anticipated movie 'Girls like Us'. As per reports, the 22-year-old country singer will play Mitchell in the film adaptation of Sheila Weller's 2008 book 'Girls Like Us', which chronicles the lives of Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon and how they reshaped American music.

MUMBAI: Carving out a new career in the music industry, actor James Franco from Oscar winning movie '127 Hours' is all set to release his debut album 'MotorCity' under the name 'Daddy'. Franco has teamed up with his college friend Tim O'Keefe for the album which also features guest vocals by Motown singer Smokey Robinson, who collaborated with the actor after meeting him on a flight. The cover art of the album presents the actor's recent 'Spring Breakers' co-stars Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine.
