SIMC to undertake radio research

MUMBAI: The SIMC (Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication) plans to undertake a research study focusing on radio as an industry in eight democracies of the world comparing the results with India  Titled either, 'State of the Indian radio' or 'Indian radio in the global context', the research results will be released in the next National Radio Meet in September 2009

Vh1 to premiere music comedy show Saturday Night Live from 22 September

MUMBAI: Vh1, the international music and lifestyle channel from Viacom18 stable, is set to launch Saturday Night Live (SNL), one of the longest-running network programs in American television history, for its Indian audiences. SNL will hit the TV screens from 22 September and will be aired Monday-Saturday at 9 pm. The show features a regular cast of typically up-and-coming comic actors, joined by a famous guest host and musical act. The show has won 19 Emmy Awards so far.

Zubin Mehta concerts in Mumbai to mark Mehli Mehta centenary

Vh1 to bring Jay Sean to India

MUMBAI: Television music channel Vh1's Rayban Vh1 Global Music Xpress will bring artistes and music from around the globe for live performances every two months, starting with popular British R&B artist Jay Sean who will start his India tour on 24 September in Mumbai. Sean will continue to entice audiences in Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad on the 26, 27 and 28 September respectively. Junglee Music bags rights of 'Horn Ok Please'

MUMBAI: Times Music's new sibling Junglee has acquired the music rights of the Rimi Sen, Nana Patekar and Mozammil Ibrahim starrer Horn Ok Please. This is the third acquisition by the six month old label, which started life with a big ticket movie, Anees Bazmee's Welcome  It later made headlines with the acquisition of Singh Is Kinng, whose digital rights it later sold for a record price to UTV New Media.

Absolute Radio in exclusive deal with Sony Ericsson

MUMBAI: Handset manufacturer Sony Ericsson has signed a landmark deal to advertise exclusively on Absolute Radio the day it rebrands from Virgin Radio. The station will officially relaunch on September 29. TIML, a subsidiary of The Times of India, bought the business with radio consultancy Absolute Radio in May this year. The rebrand is being backed by a ? five million advertising campaign using the strapline "Discover real music" and created by Albion, which won the account in June, say reports.
