Red FM hikes ad rates by 15-25%

MUMBAI: Following the radio audience measurement (Ram) data, FM radio operators are hiking their advertising rates. After Radio Mirchi, Red FM has decided to up rates by 15-25 per cent with effect from 1 October. Red FM, which operates in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, had not made any change in its ad rates for the last 16 months.

Radio City in deal with Mauj for mobile content

MUMBAI: Radio City has entered into a two-year deal with People Group's wireless arm Mauj Mobile for bringing its radio content on to the mobile platform. As per the agreement, Mauj Mobile will power all mobile activities initiated by the FM radio operator which includes creating a specially designed wapsite and offering shortcode services for various contests and shows. Radio City listeners will be able to participate in contests and shows by sending keywords and messages to the Mauj Mobile shortcode – 57007.

T-Series bags audio rights of Golmaal, Golmaal Returns

T-Series has acquired the audio rights of the 2006 multi starrer comedy Golmaal from Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd, to prepare for a marketing blitzkriieg along with its recent music rights acquisition, Golmaal Returns. The music of Golmaal Returns has been scored by Pritam while the lyrics have been written by Sameer. The music of the 2006 Golmaal had been scored by Vishal-Shekhar. The single-CD pack to be released by T-Series for Golmaal Returns will have 15 songs, as well as the songs of Golmaal.

Tadka FM to launch in Raipur during Navratri

MUMBAI: The Rajasthan Patrika led FM venture, Tadka will launch its fourth station in Raipur during the forthcoming Navratri festival. The station has already started the ground events in the city to make its presence felt amongst its three existing competitors. Tadka will be the fourth radio station in the city of Raipur after Radio Mirchi, My FM and a local FM station called Rangeela already operational. The new station will position itself as a 'youth' station in the city targeting the age group of 17-35.

Toshi to cut debut album soon

MUMBAI: After participating for numerous reality shows like, singer Toshi Sabri has finally started recording for his debut album. The music for the album has been composed by his brother Sharid Sabri, who also marks his debut in the pop scenario with this venture. Toshi is yet to finalise a name for the album but has already finished recording for four tracks. The as yet untitled album will have six originals and one remix which would be decided by the music label. The album is likely to be launched by Eros music.

Yahoo to open online music site to other services

MUMBAI: Yahoo plans to open its online music site to users who can view information about songs and artistes from outside services like Apple Inc iTunes or Amazon.com, says a Reuters report. "We are going to completely open up Yahoo Music in the next few weeks," Yahoo's media businesses executive Scott Moore, told reporters at a briefing at the company's Sunnyvale, California, headquarters.

Alok Sharma promoted as Tadka FM CEO

MUMBAI: Rajasthan Patrika's radio station FM Tadka has promoted Alok Sharma to the post of CEO from 1 September. Sharma has replaced Deepak Vohra, who now heads national ad sales for Rajasthan Patrika. Sharma has been associated with the company since 1996. Before being promoted to the post of CEO, he was heading the marketing team of the group, a responsibility that Sharma will continue to shoulder.

SC dismisses Radio Today's appeal on FM stations allotment

MUMBAI/NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed cross appeals from the Centre and Radio Today Broadcasting Limited which challenged a Delhi High Court (HC) ruling that upheld Centre's decision to disqualify the media firm from operating FM stations in the country. Although the HC had also allowed Radio Today to make a fresh bid, a SC bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhan dismissed the appeals on the ground that they had become infractuous.
