US talk radio host Rush Limbaugh signs $400m deal with Clear Channel

MUMBAI: Renowned talk radio host Rush Limbaugh has signed a record-breaking $400 million (?200m) eight-year contract to continue to present his talk show on American radio. According to the New York Times, the new contract with Clear Channel Communications will pay Limbaugh about $38 million a year, apart from a $100 million signing bonus.

Net radio listeners in UK touch 14.5 mn

MUMBAI: The number of Internet radio listeners has jumped 2.5 million in the UK in only six months, according to industry ratings body Rajar. Some 14.5 million people have used the web to listen to the radio at least once, up from 12 million in November last year, according to Rajar, says a report in the UK based Telegraph.

Sushma Singh is new I&B secretary

MUMBAI: Sushma Singh, a 1972 batch Jharkhand (then Bihar) cadre IAS officer, has been appointed Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. She had served as Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region since 2006, and was the Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj prior to her latest appointment. Singh succeeds 1973 batch IAS officer Asha Swarup, who has left to take charge of her new assignment in her home cadre as the chief secretary of Himachal Pradesh. Singh retires from service in May 2009.

08's first half hits the wrong note
