Singh is Kinng music launched

MUMBAI: The much awaited music launch of 2008 - the Akshay Kumar starrer Singh is Kinng was released on 26 June at a hotel in suburban Mumbai amid much fanfare. The evening was ushered in by the film's producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah, director Anees Bazmee, music director Pritam, and the star cast of the film - Katrina Kaif, Suno Sood, Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffery, Om Puri and Sudhanshu Pandey. However, it was red hot Salman Khan which stole the limelight.

BBCs Romanian service to shut down

MUMBAI: BBC world service will close its Romanian language service on 1 August after 68 years of broadcasting. The news and current affairs service broadcasted for almost four hours a day on radio and also had a complementary website. It is the last of the BBCs non-English language services specifically aimed at countries that are European Union member states.

S Rajesh Kumar takes over as Hello FM marketing head

MUMBAI: Hello FM 106.4 FM has promoted S Rajesh Kumar to the post of Head of Marketing for all its networks. Kumar was earlier the station head of Hello FM's Coimbatore station. The position was held earlier by D Charles, who has put in his papers. As part of his new profile, Kumar will be responsible for all the on ground activation events of the station. He will handle all the group advertising and will be the single point connect with all the advertisers. A part of his work also includes looking after the PR initiative for all the networks.

Eros holds 24% in B4U, plans India listing

MUMBAI: Eros International said Wednesday it has exercised its option on the B4U shares and now owns 24 per cent of the worldwide Movies and Music network of B4U channels. B4U's main shareholders are steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and Gokul Binani. Eros also plans to expand into the television broadcasting industry over the next 12 to 18 months through a combination of acquisitions, joint ventures or alliances. The aim is to tap into what is forecast to be a $15 billion segment in India by 2012 with growth propelled by subscription and advertising revenues and the expansion of DTH.

Universal is Disney Music's new licensee for Asia

MUMBAI: The Universal Music Group (UMG) will market and distribute Disney Music products in both the physical and digital formats in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand, effective immediately. India will be included in the agreement, with effect from October, says a report in Hollywood reporter.
