Friends FM positions brand on music, releases CDs

MUMBAI: Kolkata based Friends FM has launched a volume of contemporary Bangla songs, Anandgaan Vol 1. Released on 18 June as a part of its new brand positioning exercise, the CD is infused with a 'lot of experimenting in music, sound and musical instruments'.

Mango, Radio One go retro to mark world cup win

MUMBAI: The six stations of Radio One and the Kochi based Radio Mango are celebrating 25 years of India's sole cricket world cup win with day long on air initiatives. Radio Mango's exercise, termed "1983 LIVE", will air real time updates exactly as and when it happened on 25 June 1983 through this segment, along with interesting facts and trivia related to cricketers and cricket,interviews of celebrities analysing the match after its first innings, as they had done 25 years ago. 1983 Live started at 7.15 am and will include details from toss to post match presentation ceremony.

Fever FM lines up special shows for Star Cricket Asia Cup

UK radio services to go digital by 2020

MUMBAI: All radio services should now be developed to digital, said an interim report in the UK- and migration of most content could be completed by 2020, as reported by The Press Association. According to a BBC report, the Digital Radio Working Group (DRWG) said no date should be set yet for the switch, but it believes the transfer could be completed by the year 2020. The interim report said listeners should be given at least two years' notice before the change begins.

Amazon.com launches in the UK

MUMBAI: Amazon, the world's leading online digital service, is planning to launch in the United Kingdom by the final quarter of 2008. Executives of the Amazon MP3 stores in the US have been to London to work out the details of the launch with British record company bosses, according to a report in the UK newspaper Telegraph.

T-Series launches Sukhbir's ' Tere naal nachana'

MUMBAI: After an absence of six years, Indipop singer Sukhbir returned with an album Tere naal nachna , which was released on T-Series on 23 June in Mumbai. The 13 track album is a Punjabi pop album, complete with foot tapping numbers that one associates with the Dubai based singer. "The video is directed keeping his international image in mind. The video has special effects, with good bikes and babes just to give it a western touch. The song is foot tapping and so is the video," said Divya Khosla Kumar, who has directed the music video.

Kanpur's Big FM turns one

MUMBAI: Big FM's Kanpur station completed one year of its launch on 21 June. As part of its anniversary celebrations, the station arranged a rain dance party at the Ganges Club and conducted a week long campaign called 'Big Thappa' wherein a small gratification was given to the person playing Big FM in his or her car, followed by a sticker, which was pasted at the back of the car .

Radio Misty to launch in Gangtok by August

MUMBAI: Sikkim capital Gangtok will welcome its first radio station in August with Radio Misty entering the market. This would be the second radio station of the PCM group, after the first Radio Misty launched in Siliguri some months ago. The station will position itself as the station 'for the locals'. It will aim at promoting the local talents, will be anchored by local RJs and Nepali, Hindi and English music will play on the station. The programming of the station would be very different from the station in Siliguri.
