Entertainment Industry seeks concessions from Pranab Mukherjee in budget 2011-12

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today agreed to consider favourably the demands relating to the entertainment industry. However, he said the budget exercise was on and he was not free to divulge any of the steps he would be taking. The Minister was responding to the demands made by representatives of the entertainment industry accompanied by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni who met him today with various demands relating to taxation and other matters.

Government says Digitization by March 2015, sends recommendation to TRAI

NEW DELHI: The Government has set a deadline of 31st March 2015 for shift from analogue to digital systems, rejecting the recommendation of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India for setting 31st December 2013 as the sunset hour for analogue transmission. The Government has sent its revised proposal to TRAI for its comments before putting it up before the union cabinet for approval. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has accepted the recommendation of TRAI for completing digitization in four phases, though the deadlines have been altered.

MY FM Kota celebrates 3 years

MUMBAI: 94.3 MY FM celebrated three successful years in Kota on the 2nd of February through a series of initiatives with its listeners. These included a blood donation camp and a seminar plus health quiz for the senior citizens of Kota. The station also sponsored one year's milk bill of Palna Grah, an orphanage for infants in Karni Nagar Vikas Samiti, Kota, under the aegis of its CSR initiative, Ek Koshish Dil Se. The station requested the Mayor of the city to be a part of the gesture and hand over 12 cheques to the caretaker of the orphanage.

Radio Mirchi Q3 net up 131% to Rs 248.6 mn as income surges

MUMBAI: Entertainment Network India Ltd's (ENIL) FM radio business, operating under the Radio Mirchi brand, has posted a net profit of Rs 248.58 million for the quarter ended 31 December 2010, up 131.55 per cent from Rs 107.36 million in the year-ago period. A contributor to the bottom-line was exceptional income of Rs 120.3 million, which has come from the sale of the company's entire stake of 83.44 per cent in its subsidiary Times Innovative Media Limited (TIM) to parent company Bennett, Coleman & Company Ltd (BCCL).

Bappi Lahiri in 2012 Grammy awards jury

MUMBAI: Bappi Lahiri, who pioneered disco beats in India with his refreshing, vibrant, and rhythmic music for decades, has added another feather to his cap by becoming the first Indian composer to be in the Grammy jury for the awards in 2012. Confirming the same Lahiri avers, "I will be a jury member in the Grammy awards next year who vote to decide a winner. I am elated.... This year, Lahiri's English album "World, Peace And harmony" was sent to the Grammy; it got him a spot in the top 50 Grammy albums but lost out on the top five nominations.
