Raj Kumar Rish is Samsung audio visual biz head

MUMBAI: Samsung India has appointed Raj Kumar Rishi as VP, business head for its Audio Visual (AV) business. In this role, Rishi will be responsible for managing the sales and marketing of Samsung's AV portfolio that comprises Flat Panel, LED, LCD TVs, Home Theatre and Digital Imaging products like Camera and Camcorders. He will be reporting directly to Samsung India deputy MD Ravinder Zutshi. Prior to joining Samsung India, Rishi was with Hewlett - Packard India as the Director - IWS & Consumer GTMU (printers and supplies) IPG.

RK Arora appointed CEO BAG Network

Austrian composer plays innovative tunes to early silent films

NEW DELHI: Renowned Austrian composer and piano player Gerhard Gruber says his fascination with playing music as accompaniment began in the early 1980s and he has already played music with not merely films of his own country but also other places including Japan. Gruber told radioandmusic.com in an interview that he prefers to improvise for his work as he feels this is the best way of a direct and always new dialogue between the events on the screen, the music and the audience. Thus, he may play different music at different places for the same film.

Pandit Bhimsen Joshi is dead

* A national loss: PM PUNE: Illustrious Classical musician and winner of the highest civilian honour, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, is no more. He passed away on Monday morning in Pune due to a combination of kidney failure and age-related illnesses like general weakness, and respiratory problems, in Pune's Sahyadri Hospital, where he was on life-support systems. He was 89.
