TiÙsto, Martin Garrix will join BBC Radio1's Residency

MUMBAI: Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Simon Patterson and Brodinski will rule BBC's Radio1 airwaves when they take over the Residency show from next month onwards.

Tiësto will start his Radio 1 Residency on 24 April and Martin Garrix will join on 1 May - both will showcase the best in Electronic Dance Music. Previous hosts of Radio 1's 'In New DJs We Trust', Brodinski and Simon Patterson will have their first show on 10 April and 27 April. Patterson will showcase the best underground trance, tech-trance and psy-trance music. However, Brodinski will play house and techno.

Residency is a rebrand of Radio 1's 'In New DJs We Trust' shows, which specialise in dance music.

Dutch DJ Tiësto is among the most popular Big Room producers in the world. He hosts the internet's most downloaded dance podcast 'Tiesto's Club Life'. Tiësto said, "Radio 1 is such an influential station for dance music around the world so I am really honoured and excited to be one of the new residents. I hope everyone is ready to party with me."

Martin Garrix said, "Radio 1 are big supporters of my track 'Animals' and are taste makers in the world when it comes to dance music on the radio, I'm excited to be a part of that." Garrix's 'Animals' has been watched over 150 million times on YouTube and was a top 10 hit in more than 10 countries. The song has also peaked at number one in Belgium, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Simon said, "It is an honour to be back at the helm on Radio 1. The last stint on the station was a boyhood dream and now I get to do it all again and bring my style of the underground back to the forefront. I'm so happy."

Residency is all about getting new genres and the biggest names to listeners. Other DJs who will also be part of the show include Rockwell, Steve Angello, Nervo, Heidi, James Blake, Tessela.
