Radio City's Love Guru

After being the resident Love Guru on Radio city for the past five years, I am carrying forward my persona on the silver screen.

I am playing myself in the movie Dil Kabbadi where the four main characters confide in Love Guru on radio. I am playing the role of an agony uncle, who is very chilled out and humorous, in the film. It was more or less the same experience for me as I am doing what I do every day in the radio studio.

I am comfortable with the fact that I am an anonymous face which helps the listeners to confide about anything under the sun. I try to solve their problems in a subtle way. Being an unknown face helps because love guru is a universal name and they connect to my voice. It is comfortable for both the listeners and me.

In my professional life, I am a child specialist and I have been balancing both professions since many years now. I have been associated with radio for over 13-14 years now and radio is very much a part and parcel of my life, just like my medical profession.

I don't really feel left out when I am awarded the RJ of the year award, and I am unable to accept it in person, because radio is a medium which recognises your voice and not the person you are. There is an emphasis on your voice and it doesn't matter if you are an unknown face.

Many people wonder if I actually call my listeners at 1 am in the night. Well, all the shows are pre recorded. The listeners leave their name and number and I get back to them later. I mostly record the shows in the afternoon and they are aired in the evening, when the show is aired across 16 cities.

I have been associated with Radio city for the past five years and when I look back all these years, I am very satisfied. I am proud of the fact that it was the first show on Radio city to be appreciated across many stations and has the highest recall value among the listeners.

Love Guru, Radio's favourite Agony Uncle is on-air from 11 pm to 1 am, Monday to Friday.
