Pitbull, JLo performance at FIFA World Cup fails to thrill television viewers
MUMBAI: It was the day billions of football fans all over the world had waited for- opening day of the FIFA Wold Cup 2014, and it was probably the biggest stage for any musician. Those hoping for one of the most spectacular events were probably left a little disappointed with the celebrations. But perhaps, what was even more disappointing was the live performance of the FIFA official song 'We Are One (Ole Ola)'.
After a rather colourful display of the best of Brazil in a ceremony that lasted less than half an hour, Brazilian artiste Claudia Leitte opened the performance. Joining the 33 year old pop star not long after was rapper Pitbull and singer Jennifer Lopez. Unfortunately though, the performance was below average, as the sound quality left television viewers appalled.
While those in the stadium perhaps enjoyed the performance, most television viewers were left with a very poor and muffled sound; and certain parts that were simply inaudible. The incident was rather unfortunate, considering the visuals were great. Both ladies were dressed to impressed. However, there was much discussion about what Pitbull wore for the performance. The 33 year old rapper donned a pair of white pants with a Brazil jersey tucked in, making him the butt of a number of jokes on social media.
'We Are One (Ole Ola)', which was released in April this year and declared the FIFA official song has gained negative response from critics and fans, because it "lacks" the football or Brazilian feeling.
