Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's 'Zaroori Tha' crosses 1.3 million Vevo/Youtube views within five days of its release

MUMBAI: Post its official release on 9th June 2014, music maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's latest album `Back 2 Love' has already set the pace and is in line to become the most successful non-film album of 2014.

Released on major record label Universal Music, the albums' lead video 'Zaroori Tha', featuring television's couple Gauhar Khan and Kushal Tandon has crossed the coveted 1.3 million views mark on Vevo/YouTube within just five days of its release. While it is not uncommon for `film' music videos to achieve these numbers, Khan's song has turned out to be one of the fastest non-film music videos to hit the one million mark in recent times.

The album has raged into the music scene, topping both retail and digital charts. It peaked at number one on both, the iTunes India Pop charts and the Nokia Music charts. On the overall iTunes India Album charts, which is usually dominated by Bollywood soundtracks, it peaked at number three the day of release.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was quoted saying, "Firstly thanks to everyone for making this milestone of over a million views happen within four days. It was and still is our belief that good combination of melody with lyrics and composition works."

South Asia Universal Music/EMI Music MD Devraj Sanyal in the press release said, “This being Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's first new album in almost seven years, we mounted the album just like a film soundtrack. This is just the beginning and we have plans in place to sustain this momentum to ensure that this brilliant new album from Rahat sets the trend for more great `non-film' albums in India.”

Khan is a renowned and respected artiste/composer all around the world. In the past, he has collaborated with personalities like Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam vocalist) and James Horner (American composer). His vocals were also featured on the soundtrack of Mel Gibson's 'Apocalypto' in 2011.
