Prashant Ingole: Mary Kom will be a historical movie
MUMBAI: Amidst giggles, jokes and inspiring stories, Priyanka Chopra and Mary Kom unveiled the music of 'Mary Kom'. The movie is set to be released on 5 September and is already one of the most anticipated films of the year. The biopic of the Indian boxer, who has won World Amateur Boxing Champion five times, is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Omang Kumar. Under the Bhansali banner, the movie has launched the careers of first time music composers Shivam Pathak and Shashi Suman.
Mary Kom's soundtrack has been receiving rave reviews from the audience as well as critics. 'Ziddi Dil', composed by Suman, written by Prashant Ingole and sung by Vishal Dadlani, has become the unofficial slogan, perfectly describing the essence of the movie and its characters. Race 2's 'Party on my mind' famed lyricist Ingole says, "Even before I had read the script, I really wanted to work on it because it is based on Mary Kom's life, who is a great personality. The first song I wrote was Ziddi Dil and everyone loved it. After the song was ready, we unanimously decided it had to be Vishal Dadlani who would sing it. As far as the movie is concerned I feel Mary Kom will be a historical movie."
One of the other songs written by him, 'Teri Baari', is a highly inspirational track while, 'Adhure', sung by Sunidhi Chauhan is a melodious, slow and melancholic track. He explains, "I had set an idea in my mind of how the lyrics should be. I wanted it to be imbibed into the script depicting Mary Kom and her life. It took around 15 months for me to write the four songs and I love how they all have turned out. I am extremely positive about the entire project."
Pathak, the composer of 'Sukoon Mila' and 'Salaam India' from the album, reminisces about how he was initially offered to work on the composition. He says, "I had already composed 'Salaam India' because, I believe that there must be a patriotic song that is strong and well received in current films. It has been too long since a track like 'Chak De India' was made. I have sung the song with Vishal Dadlani and Salim Merchant and it is a composition that I am proud of. Sanjayji and Omang really liked it and asked me to work with them."
Pathak adds, "I also had 'Sukoon Mila' ready, which is sung by Arijit Singh, so I did not have to work a lot. But, I am really grateful to Sanjay Sir and Omang because since day one they have had faith in me." He also revealed that he is in talks with a few directors and production houses for composing music but, nothing has been confirmed yet. He confesses, "I would obviously love to work with Dharma Productions (Karan Johar) and of course, Yash Raj (Aditya Chopra) and Mahesh Bhatt."
