One Direction's Zayn Malik could sing for Bollywood
MUMBAI: Teenage idol of British band One Direction, Zayn Malik (now 21) is being wooed by Bollywood producers for a project that will cost them more than half a million pounds. This comes after biggies like Kylie Minogue and Snoop Dogg (Lion) made their Bollywood debuts to increase their fan base in the country and tap into the Asian market.
One Direction already has a huge fan following all over the world, including in India. The deal in question will cost the producers ?500,000 for a song. In a recent interview, producer Ashwin Varde stated, "Zayn is very well-known in that circle and holds tremendous promise if given the right break in Bollywood film. Bollywood has always welcomed actors from the UK, like Katrina Kaif and Amy Jackson."
He also said, "Zayn appeals to an even younger audience, which is the driving force of Bollywood movies today."
Some reports also suggested that some big production company is putting together an offer for Malik to act as well as sing.
Gulshan Grover, the well known on screen villain in Bollywood, also commented on the rumours saying, "There is definite interest in getting Zayn to star in a Bollywood film or deliver a song. He has a huge fan base in India and would do really well."
"I would be happy to guide him. I am sure he does not need help with the dance moves but I would be happy to teach him how to fight on-screen," he added.
The reports, if true, will without a doubt come as great news to all the die-hard 1D fans in the country.
