Radio One climbs up in the four metros
MUMBAI: After announcing several new properties in the past few weeks, Radio One's endeavors seem to bearing fruit as the station saw an ascending graph in all the four metros. It will be interesting to see the turn of events for station in the coming weeks.
Half of licensed community radio stations are operational
NEW DELHI: Though the number of community radio stations licensed in the country went up to 100 by March 2010, the number of stations actually operational stands at just 57.
The number of licensees in December 2009 had been 88 and operational stations were 50.
The total number of applications received by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry for Community licenses has been 659, and Letters of Intent have been issued to 219 while 87 applications were rejected.
Big FM inches up in B'lore, Kolkata and Mumbai
MUMBAI: Big FM saw a good run in week 28 as it added points in the metros of Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai while maintaining status quo in Delhi. Leader Mirchi also had a satisfied performance in the week.
Radio One tumbled this week losing considerably in Bangalore, Kolkata and Delhi though it managed to add few points in Mumbai.
Radio City gains momentum in B'lore and Delhi
MUMBAI: Radio City emerged as the surprise package in week 27. It gained hefty points in Bangalore and Delhi while maintained status quo in Mumbai. Similarly, Big FM also fared well this week as it gained considerable strides in Delhi and Kolkata though suffering a glitch in Bangalore.
Red FM scores in Delhi and Kolkata
MUMBAI: After soaring success last week, Mirchi failed with its winning spree as it lost strides in the city of Kolkata and Mumbai while earning few points in Delhi. It was Red FM that sprung to action in week 26 as it snapped considerable points in Kolkata and Delhi while maintaining status quo in Mumbai.
Sarang FM puts the spotlight on Konkani writers and poets
MUMBAI: Mangalore based community Radio station Sarang 107.8 FM will be celebrating its first birthday by hosting a new weekly series 'Sarang-Raknno Samvaad Vedi' and bring on air several Konkani writers and poets.
The official announcement states, "Listeners who have read these writers but had no chance to listen to them, can now listen to their voices and hear what they have to say."
The show is planned as a 52-episode radio serial, and will commence on 22 July at 7.30 a.m. with a repeat telecast at 1.00 and 6.30pm
Radio Mirchi ups ante in metros
MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi managed to roar back in Week 25 post last week's hiccups. It gained considerable strides in the metros of Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai though it lost a few niggling points in Delhi.
The week did not turn out to be favourable for Radio City as it tumbled down in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai while Fever FM also had a mixed performance.
Mirchi maintains lead in metros, mixed performance
MUMBAI: Week 24 did not prove to be too beneficial for Radio Mirchi as the station saw a dip in its listenership in Kolkata and Mumbai while maintaining the status quo in Bangalore and Delhi. Week 24 did not prove to be a gainer for last week's star performer Fever FM as it lost points in Bangalore and Mumbai while gaining strides in Kolkata and maintaining its position in Delhi.
I&B seeks status info from community radio applicants
NEW DELHI: All applicants who have signed Grant of Permission Agreement (GoPA) or received letters of intent (LoI) for setting up Community Radio Stations have been asked to furnish up-to-date information on their status.
