Radio One launches Music ka Shahenshah

MUMBAI: Radio One 94.3 FM �Maximum Music Fataafat' has launched a search for India's most music passionate person titled �Chocoliebe Radio One- Music ka shahenshah'. Commenting on the new music property, Radio One Managing director Vineet Singh Hukmani says, �Having introduced the tangible product promise of 13 songs every hour with our �Maximum Music Fataafat' product, we received an overwhelming response from listeners. We will follow this up with activities that allow us to demonstrate passion for the music space.'

'Taking Woodstock' to release in India

MUMBAI: PVR Pictures would be releasing the world's first ever full length feature film based on The Woodstock Music Festival of 1969 - �Taking Woodstock' directed by Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee, in India on 9 October. The movie, as the name suggests, is inspired by one of the greatest and most pivotal moments in popular music history that gave birth to one of the largest music revolutions of all times in the world.

I-Rock Day 2 turnout impressive despite Mumbai rains

MUMBAI: Despite the rains, and rough weather, puddles, and constant drizzling, Mumbai's rock music lovers turned out in hordes at the Independence Rock XXIV to watch some of the nation's best pro bands. I thought hardly 30-40 people will turnout in this weather – look at you guys!... said Suraj Mani, vocalist of MotherJane as the revelers roared. Bangalore's Inner Sanctum wins I-Rock XXIV

Mumbai: Bangalore based metal band Inner Sanctum were announced as the winners of Independence Rock XXIV on October 3, 2009 at the finale held in Mumbai. Inner Sanctum competed against Gravy Theory (Kolkata), Abraxas (Pune), Seize Her (Delhi) and Zygnema(Mumbai). The grand finale was judged by E-18 CEO Farhad Wadia and Shaa'ir + Func guitarist Randolf Correia.

Google tech driven Hero phone is Gadget of the Year

MUMBAI: Handset manufacturer HTC's Hero phone which uses technology developed by internet giant Google has been voted as the gadget of the year in the 2009 Stuff gadget Award. The phone, which has a five megapixel camera and a 3.2in screen, uses the Android operating system that allows users to access emails, the internet and texts easily. Fraser Macdonald, one of the judges at the 2009 Stuff Gadget Awards, said, ''With the HTC Hero, we've finally got a phone that fully exploits the potential of the Android OS to be as clever and as sexy as the iPhone.''

MySpace Music launches in Australia, New Zealand

MUMBAI: Australia and New Zealand have become the first markets outside of the US to experience MySpace Music, which launched Down Under on 1 October as part of its international expansion. The service is a joint venture between the News Corp-owned MySpace and the local offices of the four major record labels - EMI Music, Sony Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, and from the libraries of digital aggregators Orchard and IODA  Media reports suggest that in the coming months, artists will be empowered to sell tickets and merchandise from their Web pages
