Auction for FM stations deferred

NEW DELHI: Financial bidding for the remaining 97 FM radio stations across 48 cities slated to be held on Monday and on 7 January, has been put off on the ground that �some issues need to be sorted out'. The 27 short-listed private FM radio companies will now submit their offers on 29 December and 10 January. Earlier, the bidding was to take place on 12 November and 26 November but was cancelled a few days before the due date.

If reports are to be believed then director-turned actor Farhan Akhtar will be singing as many as four songs in the film Rock On. The film is being produced by him and he will also act in it.

Radio reaches 233 million listeners per week in the US

MUMBAI: Radio reaches 233 million listeners in the US over the course of the week, according to Radar 95 December 2007 radio listening estimates. The number has increased from one year ago period of Radar 91 estimates. The 7,200+ Radar Network-affiliated stations reach 82 per cent of all people aged 12 and over. Radar Network reach 84 per cent of 18-34 year-old adults and 84 per cent of 25-54 year-old adults. It also reaches 84 per cent of 18-49 year-old adults.

RGV alleges violations by T-Series, ends pact for 14 films

NEW DELHI: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has formally terminated a memorandum of understanding with Supercassettes Industries (T-Series) for audio and home video rights of 14 feature films including Sarkar Raj and Ramgopal Varma ki Aag. In a statement, Varma said he had informed Supercassettes Industries through a termination notice dated 14 November"with immediate effect for breach of various provisions" of the MoU of June last year. He said there had been"consistent and continuing non-performance of promises and obligations by Supercassettes (T-Series)."

Kenya's Yunasi is BBC's Next Big Thing

MUMBAI: Yunasi, a nine-piece band from Kenya, has topped a list of thousands of musicans from around the world to win BBC World Service's The Next Big Thing 2007. The global music talent search received entries from over 88 countries and Yunasi was chosen as the winner by an all-star jury after playing live at the BBC's famous Maida Vale studios in London. Yunasi, one of Africa's leading Afro-fusion bands, won with 'Ndi Ndi Ndi,' which wowed both the judges and audience at the final.

NDTV Imagine ropes in Sharmila Tagore as judge in'Dhoom Macha De'

MUMBAI: Radio City 91.1 FM has tied up with Warner Bros Pictures for the Will Smith starrer I am Legend. As part of the tie-up, Radio City is running a contest in the show City City Bang Bang.
