MUMBAI: Renowned bollywood singer Shaan will accompany ghazal maestro Talat Aziz for an opening act on the fifth season of dance television reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. The opening act will feature Shaan performing on his popular tracks, while Aziz will render some of his soulful ghazals. Speaking about the act, Shaan tweeted “Had a Fun shoot for Jhalak Dikhla Jaa... Introducing Talat Azizji.. We sang his popular Ghazals and some of my songs and danced too (kind of).”

MUMBAI: Country-pop singer Taylor Swift’s record label ‘Big Machine’ has inked a pioneering deal with radio giant Clear Channel that pays the singer and artists for their songs played. With this association, Swift and other artists in the Big Machine Label Group, including Tim McGraw and Reba McEntire will get paid for songs played on Clear Channel's traditional radio stations. The first of a kind deal gives Clear Channel the incentive to boost its online audiences without fear of cost overruns.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee for Information Technology said it has been assured by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry that it is "still in the process of preparing" a separate cabinet note for the amendments suggested by the Group of Ministers to the Act.

MUMBAI: After myriads of hits in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, Mozart of Madras AR Rahman is making his debut in Kannada films with ‘Godfather’, remake of Tamil blockbuster ‘Varalaaru’. The music album of the film comprises of two original tracks and five rehashed versions of his Tamil hits. Rahman has charged a minimal fee of Rs 15 million for studio, artists, instruments, recording and re-recording of the film. The music of the film was recently launched by Rahman in Bangalore.

MUMBAI: The 2012 Much Music Video Awards have announced the line-up of performances for the star studded event to be held on 17 June in Toronto. Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Carly Rae Jepsen, Marianas Trench, Katy Perry and LMFAO amongst others will perform on their popular tracks. Bieber who has received two nominations told a daily, “I'm extremely excited to come back home for this year’s MMVAs… It’s an honor to be nominated and perform. I can't wait!” Co-hosted by LMFAO, the awards will air live on ‘Much’ in Canada and ‘Fuse’ in US.

MUMBAI: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Bollywood’s renowned musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy will release a new single ‘Humko Hai Asha’ at Bandstand in Mumbai today. Penned by Prasoon Joshi, the single is rendered by Shankar Mahadevan’s son Siddharth and Loy Mendonsa’s daughter Alyssa along with an ensemble of Bhamla foundation kids.
