Misty celebrates Olympic win with day long initiative

MUMBAI: Radio Misty stations in North Bengal and Sikkim quickly reprogrammed Monday's line up after news of India's first Olympic gold win trickled in. A day long on air celebration termed Chak De India has been on air from Monday morning on the station, to mark Abhinav Bindra's win in the 10m rifle shooting event.

Sandeep Chowta brings Brett Garsed, Virgil Donati to Mumbai

MUMBAI: Musicians and music enthusiasts across Mumbai came to watch Australian guitarist Brett Garsed and ace drummer Virgil Donati perform on Friday evening. The performance-cum-workshop featuring Garsed and Donati was organized by Brijesh Bhargava of Bhargava Musik and composer Sandeep Chowta. "One of the main reasons for conducting this performance-cum-workshop session is to encourage and introduce amateur musicians to a new level of musicianship" says Sandeep Chowta, who also heads Columbia Records, India.

Siddharth-Sangeet to debut in Bollywood with Fruit N Nut

MUMBAI: Music composer duo Siddharth-Sangeet Haldipur is making a Bollywood debut in Bollywood as composers with two films. The brothers, (Siddharth is part of A Band of Boys and Sangeet belongs to Aasma) have composed for director Kunal Vijaykar's next, 'Fruit and Nut' starring Cyrus Broacha. The film is likely to release by this year end. The other film in Siddarth-Sangeet's kitty is choreographer Tarun Kumar's 'Aye phasaa'.

Govt not considering permitting news on private FM channels

NEW DELHI: The Government is not considering any proposal to permit news broadcasts on private FM Radio channels. This was stated by Information and Broadcasting secretary Sushma Singh, when answering a question on the sidelines of the Second Indian News Television Summit organised by indiantelevision.com. Singh noted that the government had studied the reports of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India as well as the Ficci in this connection. Answering another question, she said the government was considering the report on television audience meters received recently from Trai.

Big FM ties up with ICC for seven years

MUMBAI: Big FM has signed up as the official radio partner of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the next seven years. As a part of this partnership, the station will be launching a new programme, Cricket Mahabharat across all its stations. Warner demands higher royalties from gaming industry

MUMBAI: Warner Music is demanding higher royalties from video games like Guitar Hero and Rock Star, wanting to avoid mistakes made at the launch of MTV and the iPod, reports the Financial Times. "Warner would not license its music to video games if royalty rates remained far below what their true value is. The amount being paid to the music industry, even though their games are entirely dependent on the content we own and control, is far too small," said Warner's chief executive Edgar Bronfman.
