Big FM elevates Pankaj Chandra as VP National Sales

NEW DELHI: The ADAG owned Big FM has elevated Pankaj Chandra as vice president national sales from the position of regional director, North. Chandra, based in Delhi, will now be responsible for overall sales of the radio division. Chandra has been with Big FM for the last one and a half years.

Big FM launches on air Olympiad across stations

MUMBAI: As a precursor to the 'Beijing Olympics 2008', Big FM has, in a first-of-its-kind initiative, launched an 'Olympiad' across its 44 stations. The initiative goes on air from 8 August for three weeks. As part of the initiative, Big FM RJs will battle for a record breaking on-air RJ marathon across 36 stations attempting to get into the Limca Book of Records for a record 100 hours of RJing.

Airtel to bring iPhone3G to India on 22 August

MUMBAI: Bharti Airtel will introduce Apple's iPhone3G to Indian consumers on 22 August. Airtel subscribers will be able to purchase the iPhone at Airtel's Relationship Centres two weeks from now, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The company has however not released details of pricing. iPhone is embedded with all 3G features and is twice as fast as the existing mobile phones. The phone also has in-built GPS system, that facilitates as a navigation and positioning tool. US-based Apple has tied up with Airtel and Vodafone to bring iPhone in the country.

Sony purchases Bertelsmann stake in Sony BMG

MUMBAI: Sony has acquired Bertelsmann's 50 per cent stake in Sony BMG. The music company, to be called Sony Music Entertainment Inc. (SMEI), will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America. Sony and Bertelsmann AG originally created the Sony BMG joint venture in August 2004.

Sherlyn Chopra's second album, Dard-e-Sherlyn, released

NEW DELHI: 'Outrageous' singer Sherlyn Chopra, whose second album Dard-e-Sherlyn was released in the capital on Monday, says she is unfazed by the fact that the video of album's title song was subjected heavy censoring. In fact, Sherlyn performed the title song at an event where yesteryear Hindi film star Zeenat Aman and filmmaker Jagmohan Mundra released the album and the video cassette disc of the album here on Monday night. Speaking on the occasion, Zeenat said it was a happy sign that beautiful girls were now coming forward not merely to act but also to 'make good music'.

Warner Music stock dips 12 per cent

MUMBAI: The stock of Warner Music, US fell 12 per cent in early trading on the NYSE on Monday following Goldman Sachs analysts' downgrading the company's stock to a "sell" rating from "neutral," says a Reuters report. With artistes like Maddona, Red Chilli Pepper, R.E.M and more on its roster, the company stands as the third largest in the world.
