MUMBAI: Eros Multimedia, the Indian arm of Eros International, has sewed a two-year minimum guarantee output deal with Hungama Mobile for the development, distribution and marketing of Eros's music content for download on mobile phones.

MTV launches online soundtrack guide

MUMBAI: MTV in US has launched an online interactive music guide for TV called Soundtrack.mtv.com with an aim to showcase everything about the music and artists being played on MTV. Soundtrack.mtv.com,which is integrated into MTV's programming, invites viewers to go through the music line-up from both established and upcoming artists. It also provides a catalog of corresponding content including music videos, performances, personal blogs and photos.

Mirchi Bangalore launches reality show with twist

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi's Bangalore station has launched Mirchi Double Dharode (Double Loot), a reality show with a twist that envisages its RJs trying to win back listeners' winnings. The show will be hosted by morning Jock 'Pori Tapori' Rachna on her 7 to 11 am show and by 'Badshah' Avinash on his 5 to 9 pm show.

Radio NRI stations made available on Apple iPhone 3G

MUMBAI: Listeners can download free AOL Radio player to enjoy Indian radio on the go on the new Apple iPhone 3G. Radio NRI, a service of NRI Media, Inc, has announced that two of its live radio channels have been made available to listeners on the new Apple iPhone 3G. Listeners can enjoy "Bollywood & Beyond" and "Bollywood Classic Hits" by downloading the free AOL Radio player from the Apple iPhone App store, says a company release. The AOL Radio player provides the same experience on the iPhone as listeners enjoy on their personal computers.

ETC Networks Q1 operating profit up at Rs 26 million

MUMBAI: ETC Networks, formerly known as Zee Interactive Learning Systems, has posted a stand alone operating profit of Rs 26 million for the quarter ended 30 June, 2008. During the period, the company's stand alone revenues stood at Rs 191 million. Broadcasting revenue fetched Rs 129 million, up 3 per cent as against Rs 125 million in the year ago period.

Radio Dhoom launches in Ranchi

MUMBAI: Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar has ventured into FM arena with its first station, Radio Dhoom launching in Jharkhand capital Ranchi on Friday. The radio station has launched with the tagline, 'Tension nahi lene ka'. The content on the station will comprise a mix of regional songs in Bhojpuri and Bengali, Punjabi along with Bollywood tracks. Radio Dhoom 104.8 FM will be launching its second station in Jamshedpur next month.

Commercial radio criticises BBC local video service

MUMBAI: UK commercial radio criticised the BBC's plans to increase its local video output. The proposal had received criticism from other local media providers stating it will create unfair competition. Under the BBC proposal, the corporation would invest ?68 million over five years in a network of 60 local websites to provide on-demand video news. The BBC's proposals were described as 'state intervention' and 'highly damaging to local media', in a press statement accompanying an audit of 233 commercial radio stations by RadioCentre.

EU amends music licensing regulations

MUMBAI: To facilitate easy online downloads, The European Commission ordered the music copyright groups to block a system creating hurdles to buy licensed music online. Compared to US, internet music downloads in Europe is lagging behind pulling in just a fraction of revenues the record industry is losing from falling CD sales.
