Australia live music industry adds $1.21 bn to economy: reports

MUMBAI: Australia's live music industry contributed $1.21 billion to the national economy last year, according to a report by Ernst & Young. The report states that Australia's 3904 live music venues generated $652 million in profits and wages in 2009/2010, supporting 14,806 full-time equivalent positions. NSW was the largest contributor, accounting for 32 per cent of industry revenue, followed by Queensland (24 per cent) and Victoria (22 per cent).

Prasar Bharati strengthens monitoring system for expansion projects

NEW DELHI: Even as it denies any delay in implementation of projects, Prasar Bharati has admitted to several projects that were earmarked in the Tenth Plan but are being continued in the Eleventh Plan in both television and radio. Prasar Bharati sources admitted that three Doordarshan projects and 47 radio stations were still to be completed, though approved in the Tenth Plan.

Film on Resul Pookutty in offing

MUMBAI: A programme producer of Victers Channel, V. N. Pradeep, is all set to helm a film based on the life of Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty. Titled My Eighth Wonder, the film's story begins with Pookutty's journey from a village to his appearance at the venue of the Oscar awards ceremony. Confirming the making of the film, Pradeep said that Pookutty has already agreed to make the story of his life into a film. Initially, we had planned to make the film as documentary," Pradeep added.
