Junglee Music pockets Acid Factory, eyes regional markets

MUMBAI: Times Music's Bollywood arm Junglee Music has acquired the music rights of Sanjay Gupta's forthcoming project, Acid Factory. Confirms Times Music COO Adarsh Gupta, "Although we are not actively acquiring Bollywood films, Acid Factory seemed promising. The acquisition prices have stabilized post the slowdown and we managed to get a good deal." As the music label handles its digital content itself, the digital rights lies with Junglee and they would aggregate the content to telecom operators.

World Records Academy accords Asha 'most recorded artist' honour

MUMBAI: One of the country's most revered singers Asha Bhosle now claims the title for being the Most Recorded Artist. The recognition comes from World Records Academy - the world's largest certifying organization for having sung whopping 13,000 songs across genres till now. A similar title for recording the highest number of songs was held by her elder sister and well-known acclaimed singer Lata Mangeshkar between 1974 to 1991 with the Guinness World Records.

Radio High back on air in Siliguri

MUMBAI: Siliguri based Radio High is back on air after staying off the airwaves for over five months. Radio High, a broadcasting venture of Syntech Informatics, resumed operations on 25 August after shifting its studio to a different location and having sorted its differences with licensing bodies like the PPL and IPRS. Radio High managing director Milon Chakrabarty says the hiatus helped the station to refurbish itself with a new studio set up for both video and audio recordings in a location which helps it to reach a wider audience.

Radio City flags off Musical-e-Azam

MUMBAI: Radio City 91.1 FM will kick start the third season of their music property-  Musical-e-Azam from September 7 to 18, 2009. The slot will be aired every weekday on prime time morning show – Kasa Kai Mumbai. Musical-e-Azam which has showcased eminent Indian singers will include singing sensations of the current generation. The line-up of musicians include Mohit Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal, KK, Pritam, Shaan, Javed Ali, Rekha Bharadwaj, Raghav Sachar, Sajid Wajid to name a few.

Grounded film gets Amaan, Ayaan back to sarod

MUMBAI: Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, sons of sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, had been missing from the classical music scenario for a while. The reason – the duo were to debut in a J P Dutta Hindi film alongside models Tupur and Tapur Chatterjee. Ironically, the film has been put on hold for financial reasons, and the duo is back to performing, and resuming their work on an album and a book on classical musicians

Sagar Desai to get his due for Quick Gun Murugan

MUMBAI: Quick Gun Murugan would approve. Composer Sagar Desai has got industry biggies Fox Star Studios, Sony Music as well as QGM film producers Phat Phish to acknowledge his work on the album that gives QGM the film its distinctive edge. Desai, whose name had been dropped from the credits on the CDs, posters, theatrical prints and the website, has been assured that his name will now appear in all these places. The out of court settlement reached with the three parties however has not resulted in any pecuniary compensation for Desai.

My FM rejigs programming on eve of festive season, changes logo

MUMBAI: My FM has readied itself for the coming festive season, with a new campaign across all its 17 stations, beginning Wednesday. The station has also got itself a slightly modified logo. The new campaign comes reloaded with the leading characters Dimaag and Dil, and adopts the tagline â€?Kyunki Dimaag to Dimaag hai, Suno Dil Ki, 94.3 My FM  ke saath Jiyo Dil se', and a clutch of differentiated programming all directed at the youth TG.

Now A R Rahman bags Grassroot Grammy

MUMBAI: One wonders if A R Rahman is on an award piling spree this year. This time it's the 'Grassroot Grammy' held in the US where he was nominated with another music icon from the South, Ilayaraja. The oscar winning musician bagged the prize for his soundtrack in the Tamil film "Godfather" in the 'Best Indian album' category at the 'Just Plain Folks 2009 Music Awards' held this year in Nashville, US on 29 August. Bangla band 'Krosswindz' were among others nominated in the category.
